Cataclysm Cinematic Trailer

Creepy Music

With Halloween coming up, in addition to watching some good horrors, I've been listening to alot of creepy music to help get me in the spirits.  Just thought I'd start sharing some of my favorites:

House of 1,000 Corpses - Rob Zombie
I love this song; one of my all time favorites of Rob Zombie - so disturbing.

Thriller - Michael Jackson
No List of Halloween Music would be complete without Thriller :)

Re: your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
This is just a fun song about Zombies one of my favorite artists.

I'll keep the list going in my next few posts - anyways what's some of your favorite Halloween related songs?

Ink

Hey guys, just thought I'd share an awesome movie I found awhile back: Ink.
Taken from IMDB, "As the light fades and the city goes to sleep, two forces emerge. They are invisible except for the power they exert over us in our sleep, battling for our souls through dreams. One force delivers hope and strength through good dreams; the other infuses the subconscious with desperation through nightmares. John (Chris Kelly) and Emma (Quinn Hunchar), Father and Daughter are wrenched into this fantastical dream world battle, forced to fight for John's soul and to save Emma from an eternal nightmare. Separate in their journey, they encounter unusual characters that exist only in their subconscious. Or do they? Ink is a high-concept visual thriller that weaves seamlessly between the conscious and the subconscious. Ink has been hailed as the new "it" movie and compared to cult classics Brazil, Donnie Darko, The Matrix, Dark City and Pan's Labyrinth. Written by Kiowa Winans"

This is an Awesome movie, hope you guys check it out.

DOTA2!

It seems that Valve has officially announced today that they are developing a sequel to the popular Warcraft III mod, Defense of the Ancients.  For those unaware, DOTA is a mod for the rts, Warcraft III, that pits two teams of five players against each other in a match where players must defend their base from an endless spawning army of npcs.

The sequel seems to be a recreation of the original title with a few upgrades and will be set to release sometime in 2011.  The gameplay will remain largely untouched, but there will be noticeable upgrades.  First of which, is that the game will no longer run on the Warcraft III engine, allowing for an overhaul of the mechanics(and making things much more pleasing to the eyes).  In addition to this, there will be many multiplayer upgrades to the game, including an integrated voice chat system.

I'm very excited for this game and will be sure to be following this as the game nears release.  You can check out the full story on Gameinformer.

Swedish Armed Forces Game Training

Earlier tonight I was directed to this awesome flash game, developed by the Swedish armed forces, from The Lavender Placenta.  This game pairs you with three other people and you must work together to succeed.  As time goes on, the tasks you are given become more and more difficult.  You can find this game here.

The Swedish armed forces have also developed another flash game which will test the qualities needed for an officer - testing you ability to multi-task, your spacial thinking, concentration, and memory with some difficult tasks.  You can find this game here.

If you're looking for some time to waste check these games out, the first one is alot of fun and pretty addictive.  Thanks Sweden, I'm happy to be able to know you for more than just your meatballs and Ikea now.  ^^

A Night for Terror

With Halloween just around the corner, I've been looking to get myself ramped up for all the excitement.  With that in mind, I've been searching for horror movies not only to watch now, but to find a few to put together a horror movie marathon which I usually do every Halloween night.  While looking for suggestions for new horrors I haven't seen before, I cam upon this website, Hunch.com.

This website is pretty cool, basically it will ask you a few questions about your preferences in whatever movie genre, and then make a list of suggestions for you based on highly rated movies fitting your criteria.  After answering the questions for the horror genre, I came upon my own personalized list, and to my surprise, there were plenty of movies on the list I have never heard of.  Here's just a few that were suggested to me that I haven't heard of and plan on checking out in the upcoming weeks:

Deadgirl

After skipping school and breaking into the boiler room of a deserted mental hospital, buddies Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and JT (Noah Segan) make a shocking discovery: the plastic-covered naked body of a woman lying on a gurney. When they realize that the woman may be alive, JT shocks Rickie by suggesting they take advantage of her. But all is not as it seems in this dark thriller: The door to the boiler room had been rusted shut for years.

The Uninvited

Committed to a mental hospital after her mother's tragic death, grieving teenager Anna (Emily Browning) discovers upon her release that her father (David Strathairn) plans to marry his deceased wife's former nurse (Elizabeth Banks), a woman who might not have the best intentions. But foreboding warnings from her mother's ghost only cement Anna's suspicions in this remake of the 2003 Korean chiller Janghwa, Hongryeon.

Trick 'r Treat

In writer-director Michael Dougherty's fright fest, Halloween's usually boisterous traditions turn deadly, and everyone in a small town tries to survive one night in pure hell … but who will still be alive in the morning? Several stories weave together, including a loner fending off a demented trick-or-treater's attacks; kids uncovering a freaky secret; a school principal -- who moonlights as a serial killer -- poisoning his candy; and more.

Warcraft Movie Delayed

Ever since the announcement of a Warcraft movie adaptation was in the works, four year ago, there has been very little details on the project.  When Blizzard announced that Sam Raimi was to direct the film, it seemed like the cogs had finally started turning and we'd soon be getting the information we've so long desired.  Well, turns out that we'll have to wait a bit longer than we hoped.  In addition to directing the Warcraft movie, Raimi is also tied to direct Disney's Wizard of Oz reboot, and it seems as if he has chosen to work on that project first, according to Deadline.

Raimi Being interviewed about the Warcraft Movie in June.

What's All This Then?

If you're reading this you're probably wondering what happened to this blog?  Well, I've decided to split my blog - I changed the url on my original blog to http://rjsreads.blogspot.com  and have that focus on books since that was what my blog's focus was turning to.  I then grabbed this url again for this blog which will focus more on general topics, gaming, movies, rants, etc...

I'm currently playing around with templates and stuff at the moment, but hope to have my first real entries underway soon enough.
