It seems that Valve has officially announced today that they are developing a sequel to the popular Warcraft III mod, Defense of the Ancients. For those unaware, DOTA is a mod for the rts, Warcraft III, that pits two teams of five players against each other in a match where players must defend their base from an endless spawning army of npcs.
The sequel seems to be a recreation of the original title with a few upgrades and will be set to release sometime in 2011. The gameplay will remain largely untouched, but there will be noticeable upgrades. First of which, is that the game will no longer run on the Warcraft III engine, allowing for an overhaul of the mechanics(and making things much more pleasing to the eyes). In addition to this, there will be many multiplayer upgrades to the game, including an integrated voice chat system.
I'm very excited for this game and will be sure to be following this as the game nears release. You can check out the full story on Gameinformer.

Swedish Armed Forces Game Training
Earlier tonight I was directed to this awesome flash game, developed by the Swedish armed forces, from The Lavender Placenta. This game pairs you with three other people and you must work together to succeed. As time goes on, the tasks you are given become more and more difficult. You can find this game here.
The Swedish armed forces have also developed another flash game which will test the qualities needed for an officer - testing you ability to multi-task, your spacial thinking, concentration, and memory with some difficult tasks. You can find this game here.
If you're looking for some time to waste check these games out, the first one is alot of fun and pretty addictive. Thanks Sweden, I'm happy to be able to know you for more than just your meatballs and Ikea now. ^^
